ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO BRING FOR INDIVIDUAL CLASSES

All DRUM MAJORS and LEADERSHIP STUDENTS (Brass, Woodwind, Flag, Rifle, Majorette, Drill Team) bring:
Notebook, pens/pencils for note taking, your woodwind or brass instrument, or your flag, rifle or baton. Instrumentalists – everyone must bring folding music stand - college will have NONE for us to use.

DRUM MAJORS - Every drum major should bring your instrument, even percussionists and tuba players, and a folding music stand.  We will be conducting live rehearsals rather than conducting just to taped music. Drum Majors also need to bring a (portable preferred) CD player and an additional $5 to purchase a CD (NOT mandatory, but highly recommended).  This CD will include what the instructors will be teaching in your classes and will be used for our conducting competitions.

PERCUSSION STUDENTS - percussion equipment, tuning key, sticks, etc.   If possible, bring spare head(s) & extra sticks.  Leadership Students - bring pad & pencils for note taking as well as your equipment.

AUXILIARY PERFORMANCE CLASSES - Please remember, all campers are responsible for bringing their own equipment (flags, batons, weapons, etc).  Auxiliary Leadership Students - see “Leadership” section above.

GUARD INSTRUCTORS/SPONSORS - color guard EQUIPMENT for hands-on class.  It might be helpful to you if you can bring a music tape of your Fall 2009 show music in order to get some help with equipment ideas.  You will have opportunity for one-on-one consultation if you wish.

BAND DIRECTORS - ITEMS TO BRING

Directors - CEU credit (3.0 Continuing Education Units) is available to you from Huntingdon College.  IF YOU WANT THE CEU Credit, there is a $20 processing fee (check to Spirit Camp).   Also bring the following:
1) 3 favorite NEW pieces of music plus score plus recording if available.
2) Drill writing supplies or equipment you use for your band.
3) Brass mouthpiece (2 if possible).
4) Casual clothes, tennis shoes, sun hat for outdoor activities.
5) Pencils / pens.
6) Video tapes of your band if you have them and would share them with the other directors.
7) If you have any of the following which you use for your band and would not mind sharing them, bring: Band Handbook, Leadership Manual, Recruitment Letters, Permission Forms, etc.
8) "War Stories” required.  Bring good and bad memories of your work to share with us all.
9) Don't forget your sense of humor.
10) The optimum experience from the Directors Workshop can be gained by bringing your scores and tapes and by taking this opportunity to get a good portion of your actual Fall 2009 show written.
